The Chusquea Gigantea is still rare in the UK and highly sought after by many bamboo enthusiasts.
It is a very tall and very upright bamboo with true giant proportions. Although it has a clumping rhizome system the culms grow well spaced and will grow a grove of thick canes with prominant nodes making it a truely distinct bamboo.
This plant is best planted in isolation i.e. as a large lawn specimen where it's giant proportions can be shown off.
The Chusquea Gigantea will thrive in coastal locations
This plant can be one of the most spectacular looking solitary specimens due to its bushy appearance.
