The Fargesia Nitida is a bamboo with a dense column of
culms with a purple appearance and a mass of blue-green foliage which gently arches outwards.
The new culms remain leafless until their second year and rise up through the existing mass of dense foliage creating quite a striking statement.
The Fargesia Nitida is extremely versatile and can be used to form a screen or windbreak, a lovely centre piece specimen or is happy grown in containers.
The Nitida likes to be in part shade to shelter its leaves from the hot summer sun.
